For many years, I have asked my son's education providers to assess him for dyslexia but was never successful in getting them to agree. Now that he's 18 and still struggling with education, I decided to go private to find out for once and for all if it was undiagnosed dyslexia and not getting the proper support in education that was holding him back.

I contacted Amena first for a Dyslexia consultation to explore if the assessment would be worth doing. It was clear from the talk that the assessment would be beneficial so we could either rule dyslexia out or, should he have a diagnosis, he could get the support he needs in further education or work.

My son got a dyslexia diagnosis, and Amena shared a detailed report on why and how she came to that conclusion. It made a lot of sense, and although I feel sad that he struggled without the proper support in his school years, having it now removes a lot of weight off our shoulders. My son feels more confident about his future and his capabilities, making Amena and her service worth every penny.

My 10 year old daughter had been struggling at school in year 4 she is now year 6 with lots of boundaries that faced us before we decided to contact alternative learning to help and support us with a diagnosis. We met Amena and felt comfortable instantly she was so good with my daughter and explain everything that she was going to help her to find her own superpowers.
Assessment day came and it was made to be so relaxed. We have just received our report with the diagnosis and now we can move forward with the right support and tools that Sophia needs.

I was unaware of any difficulty - everything for me had been established as my 'normal' at the age of 57! However my adult daughter was found to be dyslexic after finishing university and items in her assessment made me question myself.
